Acupuncture Regulatory Authority (ARA) is proud to have the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) as a valued stakeholder, with a representative on our board. This partnership enables CNM students to access a wide range of benefits and support for their acupuncture practice.

About ARA

Established in 2005, the ARA was originally known as the Acupuncture Stakeholder Group. Today, it comprises 14 professional acupuncture bodies working collaboratively to improve standards, ensure safety, and promote the development of acupuncture in the UK. We are committed to supporting and benefiting practitioners across the profession.

CNM Student Membership and ARA Registration

As a CNM student, you are automatically entitled to register with the ARA. This entitles you to use the designation RARA after your name and display the ARA logo on your website. You will also be listed on our official register and gain access to a wide range of exclusive benefits, including:

• No-contract sharps disposal service
• Numerous discounts through our partner network

Support Services

We offer comprehensive support through our team of corporate and licensing lawyers, in-house advisors, and the Balens insurance team. Members have access to over 85 legal policies and business contracts—available free of charge—to help with any practice-related issues.

If you encounter an acupuncture-related problem, please reach out to us at admin@ara-org.uk. We likely have experience with similar issues and can provide a solution. Members also have access to over 16 health insurance companies for their clients.

We’ve developed an Android app (iPhone version coming soon) to help you access the members’ area, which includes policies, guidance sheets, and patient information resources for use in your clinic.

Your Voice Matters

As an ARA member, your voice is vital. You can raise concerns, share ideas, or propose improvements through your CNM acupuncture instructor, who serves as the CNM representative on the ARA board.
